Whether you love it or hate it, Valentine’s Day is a week away and is making itself known across window displays and store shelves.
In the eyes of many, Valentine’s is a tacky commercial cash grab. For others, it’s about celebrating the sentiment — showing love and care towards the important people in your lives.
In the spirit of spreading positivity, here are a few simple ways you can show care for your community this Valentine’s Day.
Heart-Shaped Pizza & Paper Hearts
Every February, Boston Pizza sells heart-shaped pizzas and Paper Hearts to raise funds for charity. The Paper Hearts are exactly what they sound like – large red hearts cut out of paper.
They are purchasable for $2, $5 and $10. Every donation goes towards a local charity chosen by each specific BP location.
On February 14th, all small and medium pizzas are heart-shaped. $1 from each pizza sold also goes towards a charity in your community.

Pup-o-grams & a Pawsitive Impact
CanadaHelps is also supporting the Bow Valley SPCA with their very sweet Pup-Grams!
Pets are cherished family members and loved ones that occupy very special places in our hearts.
From February 1st to 14th, you can purchase homemade dog cookies for $7/piece to go towards one of the shelter dogs.
The proceeds will go towards caring for the resident dogs and cats looking for a happy home. And it will brighten their day, letting them share in the love of the holiday too!

The Pembina Valley Humane Society is also offering e-Valentine’s for $10. Upon purchase, a heart will be placed on their kennel and they’ll get to enjoy a special treat.
For our Ontario audience, the Ottawa Humane Society is hosting a Valentine’s event on Saturday, February 8th from 11 am to 2 pm.
Between cookie & craft decorating, a photo booth, and family activities, there are a variety of engaging ways to support the shelter while bonding with family.
However you choose to celebrate Valentine’s, we wish you a wonderful February full of connection and community
