Kids trick or treating

SmileGrove Dental buys back candy for charity

SmileGrove Dental in Oakville, Ontario, is inviting children to participate in a Halloween candy buyback program in support of a local charity.

SmileGrove Dental will run the exchange from Nov. 1st to Nov. 8th. In that window of time, kids can drop off their excess treats for cash.

They will receive $5 for every pound of candy with a maximum of 3 pounds exchanged per child.

Furthermore, SmileGrove Dental will match the total amount distributed in a donation to Kerr Street Mission.

Kerr Street Mission is a community hub. It provides essential programs and services for vulnerable, at-risk families and children.

SmileGrove chose it because it supports community members dealing with economic hardship, which is a prominent reality now.

Dentist Karen Man expressed the clinic’s desire to give back and uplift its neighbours who may be struggling (Oakville Beaver).

“It’s an opportunity for children to bring their excess candy to our dental office. We figure this is a fun way to have kids to enjoy Halloween, enjoy some candy and also promote their dental health while supporting their community,” -Dr. Karen Man, SmileGrove dentist.

This is also a great way for kids to learn to associate the dentist with fun and positivity instead of a scary place.

In addition, SmileGrove partnered with Ronald McDonald House to donate the incoming candy to children undergoing health difficulties.
